POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a strategic, innovative, and collaborative General Manager – Business Growth & Operations to join our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role overseeing business development, project management, and operational delivery for a portfolio of high-profile major events, conferences, and international sports tournaments across Australia. As a key leader, you will drive commercial growth, elevate operational excellence, and strengthen strategic partnerships. Your focus will be on scaling our national event footprint, optimizing resource planning, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver seamless end-to-end event execution. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Business Development (30%) - Build strategic business development opportunities through sales and marketing campaigns - Lead the company’s bid preparation and submissions, sourcing other SME resources where relevant - Represent the company at industry events, conferences and association functions - Maintain a CRM system and sales pipeline though use of cloud-based software - Review and monitor public tender opportunities through various online portals - Develop supporting materials such as case studies, referrals, capability statements and industry related articles of interests - Provide reports to management on potential and confirmed opportunities Project Management/ Operational Delivery (70%) - Develop, coordinate and implement end-to-end ground transport operations at events that may include operating plans, traffic management plans, risk management, communication plans, contingency plans and other supporting documentation that meets all compliance requirements - Manage and ensure all Workplace, Health & Safety polices are implemented and adhered to - Ensure at all times any NHVL compliance requirements such as Chain of Responsibility (COR) is adhered to and implemented throughout the planning and delivery of services - Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, staff and contractors - Engage preferred suppliers and sub-contractors to support the delivery of the services - Accurate fortnightly reporting of progress, risks and issues and opportunities - Commercial management of projects (i.e. budgets, P&L statements and reconciliations) - Work with the Accounts department to ensure all revenue and suppliers are paid in a timely manner - Travel within Australia and the South-East Asia region to conduct meetings, site visits and deliver the event SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE - Excellent knowledge of the passenger transport industry in one or more of the following areas (Bus, Coach, Chauffeur, Taxi, Rail, Fleet, etc.) - Executive level understanding of transport specific software such as scheduling and dispatch systems, vehicle tracking and passenger count software - Strong leader who embraces a positive and engaging team culture, a relationship builder - Ability to juggle conflicting priorities and deliverables while supporting the team with their assignments and workload - Excellent client management who ensures their priorities are delivered - Empathetic to culturally diverse audiences - Attend meetings (remotely and onsite) representing TMS AUS with suppliers, clients and stakeholders - Represent TMS individually and through your team in a professional manner at all times whether in person or online - Ability to work independently and remotely, more than often online - Respond to and send communications via email, phone, online meetings in a timely manner - Maintain a record of all your hours of work and tasks performed by completing documentation to assign relevant hours to a specific project - Maintain all documentation in company files and folders online and in shared folders - Flexibility in working hours – no two days are the same. Be willing to work flexible and extended hours throughout the event period - Willing to travel interstate and overseas (occasionally) therefore have a valid passport - Have a current and full car driving license QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - University degree or equivalent professional experience - Proficient in English (written and oral) - Must have the right to work within Australia (prior to applying for the role) - Preferably 8-10 years of progressive responsibilities and work-related experience, and any combination of education and training, which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, combined with demonstrated professional growth and achievement - Previous involvement in complex event operations, preferably at FIFA World Cup™ or Olympics scale or equivalent - Experience of working in International and Australia major events, preferably within a transport, venue or logistics capacity - Advanced skills in writing proposals, operational plans and post event reporting - Excellent skills in project based financial budgets and reconciliations - Strong business and commercial acumen and transport language - Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software - Experience of Project Management and CRM software - Experience of presenting proposals to prospective clients (in person and/or remotely) The employee’s responsibilities reflect current needs and requirements of the Company as at the date of issuing this position description. POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a highly organized, solution-focused Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of transportation operations for major events in Australia. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of client groups across complex event environments. As a key member of the event operations team, the Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, government agencies, transport operators, and venue managers to deliver an integrated transport plan. The ideal candidate brings expertise in large-scale transport logistics, risk and contingency planning, and operational readiness for high-pressure, time-sensitive environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan, coordinate and deliver assigned project for the client - Develop conceptual and operational plans to ensure successful delivery of all services - Develop and maintain a project plan throughout the course of each project, identifying and escalating risks and issues that could affect a seamless project delivery - Engage and seek competitive quoting from service delivery providers, using our preferred suppliers/ partners in the first instance - Coordinate various stakeholders and service delivery partners to ensure the client experience is of the highest standards - Continuously ensure any NHVL compliance requirements such as Chain of Responsibility (COR) is adhered to and implemented throughout the planning and delivery of services - Onsite, perform various operational roles at a specific event/s such as Load Zone Supervisor, Dispatcher, Depot Manager, Client Services Manager, etc. - Implement and maintain Workplace, Health & Safety requirements whilst performing duties at all times.
