FIFA's venue selection for the 2030 World Cup moves onto the ground next month. Inspectors from world football's governing body will tour candidate cities and stadiums in Spain, Portugal and Morocco through November and December, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
Fifteen cities are on the itinerary. Spain has the most, with seven: Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Madrid, San Sebastián, Seville and Zaragoza. Morocco has six: Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat and Tangier. Portugal puts forward Lisbon and Porto. FIFA said other venues could still be added as the process goes on.
No stadium is confirmed yet, and neither is the final. Spain and Morocco both want it. FIFA says it will decide which matches go where only once the host-city list is settled and the match schedule takes shape.
The centenary tournament also opens across the Atlantic. Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay each stage one of the first three games, a nod to the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930.
