The Tour de France will charge spectators to watch its 2027 team presentation, the first paid presentation since the race last started in Britain in 2014. The ceremony moves to the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle on Wednesday 30 June, two days before the Grand Départ, with tickets from £27.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is producing the evening, pairing the rider line-up with Highland dancers, massed pipes and drums and music written for the occasion. The castle's hilltop site has limited access, so the event has to be ticketed. Team presentations are usually free, and the last paid one, at the First Direct Arena in Leeds in 2014, cost upwards of £45.

Sales open in stages:

  • Grand Départ GB newsletter subscribers from midday on Friday 23 October
  • British Cycling, Scottish Cycling and Beicio Cymru members 24 hours later
  • Tattoo customers from midday on Monday 26 October
  • The general public from midday on Friday 30 October

Organisers say the celebrations will extend beyond the castle walls, with fans able to see the riders on their way up to the Esplanade. The men's race starts in Edinburgh on Friday 2 July and finishes the first stage in Carlisle, then runs Keswick to Liverpool and an all-Welsh third stage from Welshpool to Cardiff. The Tour de France Femmes, which also starts in Britain, will hold its own presentation, with details to follow.
