Haas have taken Esteban Ocon out of the car for the rest of the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend. Reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa will partner Ollie Bearman in final practice, qualifying and Sunday's 71-lap race.

The change came on Saturday morning, a day after both men had driven at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Hirakawa took Ocon's car in first practice on Friday, his third practice outing of the season, and finished 15th. Ocon then returned for the second session.

Hirakawa is 32 and has been Haas's reserve since 2025. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship with Toyota in 2022, and took a second WEC title in 2023. Sunday will be his Formula 1 race debut.

Haas gave no reason for dropping Ocon. The team's statement ended: "No further statements will be made at this time."
