Cadillac has extended Sergio Pérez's contract until at least 2029, announcing the deal on Wednesday ahead of this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix, where the Mexican driver makes his 300th Formula 1 start in front of a home crowd.
Pérez joined the American team before its debut season in 2026. The new deal commits him to the project for three more years, even though Cadillac has yet to score a point this season; the team says it has improved steadily through the year and wants continuity as it tries to climb the grid.
Pérez, a six-time Grand Prix winner whose career has taken in Sauber, McLaren, Force India, Racing Point and Red Bull, called the extension a natural continuation of a project he believed in from day one. "There is still a lot of work ahead of us and I am fully committed for the next three years," he said.
Cadillac chief executive Dan Towriss described building a competitive team as a long-term journey, with Pérez's experience and leadership part of the foundation.
