LA28 has made former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy its Head of Ceremonies and Content. She will be executive producer of all four ceremonies at the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Kennedy co-founded Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, and ran Lucasfilm from 2012 to 2026. She takes over the role from Peter Rice, who stays on as an executive producer. She joins creative director Ben Winston and Scott Givens, a veteran Olympic ceremonies producer who runs production. FulFive, a new company formed by Fulwell Entertainment and FiveCurrents, will produce the shows.
LA28 chair Casey Wasserman called her "one of Hollywood's all-time greats, with a rare gift for storytelling." The organisers say the ceremonies are now moving from early development into production.
The Olympic opening ceremony is on 14 July 2028 and the closing on 30 July. The Paralympic Games open on 15 August and close at the Coliseum on 27 August. Kennedy says she and Marshall have been to almost every Games since Los Angeles hosted in 1984.
